In a few weeks thousands of families will embark on their annual holiday, either here in the UK or abroad. Invariably this will mean driving for all or part of the holiday using unfamiliar roads, on a heavier than usual vehicle, with all the extra burden of trying to make sure that the holiday goes as smoothly as possible. The help with this aim the IAM has produced some factsheets, and links to them can be found here. |

We tend to call them headrests, but they have a proper title: head restraints. And they have an important, if unglamorous, safety role – they protect the driver, and the passengers from a potentially nasty injury. The problem with calling them headrests is that it makes them sound like some sort of comfort zone for drivers. |
